Description:

Meissen porcelain, also called Dresden porcelain or porcelaine de Saxe, German hard-paste, or true, porcelain produced at the Meissen factory, near Dresden in Saxony (now Germany), from 1710 until the present day.

The high point of the Meissen factory was reached after 1731 in the modelling of the sculptor Johann Joachim Kändler. An underglaze blue decoration called Zwiebelmuster, or onion pattern, was introduced about 1739 and was widely copied. Meissen porcelain is marked with crossed blue swords.

The Naga Collection is inspired by Michael’s fascination with Nagaland, the remote mountainous state in northeast India. Naturally isolated by its geography, the people of Nagaland exist independent of the rest of India, resulting in a diverse and vibrant culture. The area is home to over twenty different tribes, each with distinct forms of art, jewelry and music. The pieces in this collection reflect this unique region and capture a different perspective of the Indian culture.

Created as part of the Animalitá collection from Bosa, in which designers interpret the theme of animality, the Unicorn, Ram, and Bull containers symbolize courage and power while alluding to myths and legends.

Finished in matt ceramic with precious metal details, each container’s exterior is detailed with textural effects to represent the animal’s specific fur, while identifying horns in metallic color characterize each creation. The Unicorn container shares a representative platinum horn, while the Bull container’s horns are depicted in gold and the Ram’s signature curved horns are copper.

All the objects in the Bosa collection are made entirely by hand using the ancient techniques of ceramic making.

The Manitapi White Vase is made by a group of elderly women who live at the border of Burma and Thailand. Made from black terracotta, this incredible hand-thrown white vase is completely covered in handmade bell-shaped flowers. Once the blossoms are in place, the vase is glazed with a crisp white. We also offer the Manitapi in two sizes in a dark blue.
